MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION
How do I submit my manuscript to PSSR?
Temporary instructions for 2026 while we work on our own submission process via the website:
We are currently working on our new submission portal. While we are still setting this up,
kindly send your cover letter, title page, and blinded manuscript to our email address:
pssr.upd@up.edu.ph
What are the guidelines for submitting a manuscript?
- The manuscript must be original, not published elsewhere and not submitted for
consideration or review in another journal. - The text is double-spaced and uses a 12-point font, with 1-inch margins on the side.
Tables and figures should be included in the text while images/photos should be sent in a
separate file. The file should be saved as a Microsoft Word file (i.e.doc or .docx). - Articles must be written following the bibliographic style of the Publication Manual of
the American Psychological Association (7th edition). References and templates for APA
7th edition style can be found here. - Must have an accurate reference list and if available, include the URLs to access the
references online. - Must meet the word count of the kind of article being submitted.
- To ensure a blind review, the title page should be submitted separately from the main
article. The title page should contain the names and affiliations of all the authors, the
contact information of the corresponding author, and the running head. The rest of the
manuscript should be sent in a separate file and should not contain the names of the
authors and should only display the same running head used in the title page. - Permission to use copyrighted material has been secured by the author.
- The title page, manuscript, and additional files must be submitted via email
(pssr.upd@up.edu.ph).
What does the review process look like for full length articles?
1) Author submits a full-length article through the PSSR email (pssr.upd@up.edu.ph).
2) The editorial team performs an initial editorial screen of the manuscript to check for
compliance with basic editorial requirements. If the manuscript fails to fulfill basic
requirements, it is returned to the author with the decision decline without review. If
a manuscript is cleared for review, the editorial team will identify and invite possible
reviewers of the article.
3) Anonymized versions of the manuscript will be sent to the two referees along with a
manuscript feedback form.
4) Once both referees send their reviews, the editorial team will integrate and assess the
recommendations of the referees to come up with a decision: decline based on
review, accept pending revision, or accept with no revision. In each case, the
decision is communicated to the author(s) with the anonymized reviews.
5) Authors who are asked to revise their manuscripts will submit a revised draft as well
as a cover letter that details point by point how they addressed the referee comments.
6) The editorial team performs a final editorial screen to ensure that the author has
satisfactorily addressed the referee comments. After clearing, authors will be
notified about the final publication decision of their manuscript.
What are the decision outcomes for full-length articles?
1) Accept without revision. The manuscript requires no further revisions.
2) Accept with revision. The manuscript needs to be revised following feedback from
the reviewers before it can be published.
3) Decline based on review. The manuscript has major flaws or shortcomings. If these
identified issues are addressed, the new manuscript may be resubmitted again for
consideration for publication.
4) Decline without review. The manuscript does not pass the initial editorial screen and
does not fulfill basic editorial requirements (e.g. not in manuscript form, paper has
been previously published elsewhere, paper is not a social science manuscript
